my days are filled with the joys, frustration

and passion of the art and craft of writing.

Join me in exploring the writer's life,

and the world of creativity.

Do you shudder when you think of having to revise your manuscript?

All writers do at one time or another. However, published writers know that revision is the heart and soul of their creativity, not the enemy of it.

Revision is the writer’s greatest opportunity to strengthen and enrich a manuscript so it evokes strong emotions from your readers.

Strong revision creates a memorable manuscript—one that literary agents and publishers want.

Ace of Hearts: New List

I am obsessed with and collect playing cards. About a year ago, I decided to learn the Tarot. In the past few months I have purchased some new Tarot decks and have been using card draws and spreads to help me with my character work on my novel.
I also wanted to learn to read a regular deck of cards, so began to study that as well.
Each card, whether from a tarot deck or a regular playing deck, has different meanings and can evoke a variety of feelings, thoughts, considerations and inspiration. I am now using the card draws to inspire my art work as well as my writing.
Since I have not been good at regular postings here, I decided to challenge myself to posts according to the card draw of the day.
This will not be a tarot tutorial, although if you read the posts and are a tarot reader and want to add any of your own insights, I welcome that!

This is just a way for me to share what inspires me from the card I draw.

That said- Today, I drew the Ace of Hearts (which would correlate to the Ace of Cups in the Tarot)
Ace of hearts
As always-how appropriate it was for what I have been thinking about and, my goodness, what a great card to draw at the beginning of a new season:Spring!

It’s all about new beginnings, projects blossoming, new romance….ok, I could go on and on…I’ll save that for the next post.

What struck me for today was that my thoughts have been this: I recently realized that the things I had on my list of what I wanted over the past few years, I now have! It’s time for a new list!
As exciting as that thought is, it’s also a bit scary. Of course, I can rattle off the “things” I would like to have: A flat screen TV so I can put it on a particular wall and re-arrange my living room, a new table and chairs for our balcony so we can enjoy meals out there this spring and summer, new carpeting, etc.

The list I am referring to is where we go for those things that can’t be bought, the things that tug at our hearts, the desires and wants surrounding who we are and what we do.
For many of us, when we focus on those things, all the old tapes start playing…”You can’t do that! You’re not talented enough! Who are you to think you could accomplish THAT??”
You know those voices.

So, today, my question and thought that the Ace of Hearts presented me was this:
“Think optimistically and use the vastness of your imagination to forge your new future. See it. Feel it. Own it. The desire for new beginnings is the first step. Fill this day with possibilities waiting to be embraced. Seek out that which will fill your heart with love.”

It’s time for me to create a new list.
Do you make lists?
