As an aspiring novelist and Administrative Assistant

for To Write Well

my days are filled with the joys, frustration

and passion of the art and craft of writing.

Join me in exploring the writer's life,

and the world of creativity.

Do you shudder when you think of having to revise your manuscript?

All writers do at one time or another. However, published writers know that revision is the heart and soul of their creativity, not the enemy of it.

Revision is the writer’s greatest opportunity to strengthen and enrich a manuscript so it evokes strong emotions from your readers.

Strong revision creates a memorable manuscript—one that literary agents and publishers want.

Yet, I would say that the 3 of spades describes a big part of my life.

Emotional Indecision

Recently, I sat my current work in progress (novel) aside. I will be traveling to the place where the book is set in a few months and I was at a place in it where I needed to go absorb and move among the setting to revise some of my scenes as well as fill [...]

Writer's Life

Who Gave Me Permission?

Each morning I start my day by reading a chapter from one of Natalie Goldberg’s books. Right now I am going through Wild Mind: Living the Writer’s Life

I have not posted much about my writing here; I’ve learned that living the writers life is, well, very bohemian. Not many get it and many can’t grasp [...]

Life in Asheville

Unique Writing Workshop in Asheville!

While there are excellent workshops on creative writing in the Asheville area, especially workshops with a close focus on developing character or writing setting or creating a dramatic plot, there are few, if any, workshops that address the writer’s most basic tool: the English language.

To Write Well’s next offering — February 7  through February [...]
